Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone

By JJ · Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

This blog is a journal of our actions, successes, failures and progress.  In a short period of time we have grown our business to a four figure per month operation.  Our new aim is to grow this to a 5 figure per month operation in 2009.  To help us achieve our 5 figure per month goals we are going to concentrate our efforts on two key areas:

1.  Affiliate Marketing

We will expand our niche affiliate site network.  By employing a Virtual Assistant we can leverage their time and skills to complete the work that is time consuming for us.   We will provide more information on this model in later posts.

2.  The Profit Launcher Range

We will develop a range of products based on our experiences and what works for us.  The first product was the EA Profit Launcher.  We have a number of affiliates promoting this product for 100% commissions and this is working very well for us and them.  The 2nd product will be Article Conversions Unleashed.  ACU will provide our blueprint to writing articles that convert like gangbusters and detail alternative uses for article content to help build your virtual real estate.

Our average article conversion rate on Ezinearticles is 34%, with one niche converting at 51%!.  However, although we know our system works, we are new to the IM scene with very little exposure.  Therefore we decided to step out of our comfort zone and approach well known marketers and ask them for an interview.

To give ourselves the best chance of a ‘yes’ we only approached marketers we had a relationship with.  This was either through forum participation or they were promoting EA Profit Launcher or we were their past customers.  Not all of the marketers said yes to the interview.  Some of them did not respond at all.  But many did and we now have a series of interviews that will add a huge amount of value, social proof and authority to the product.

Let me tale you a secret.  I was so nervous preparing for the interviews - more nervous than I have been in a very long time.

I was outside of my comfort zone.  But guess what?  Once it began it was fine.  The interviews flowed and we have some fantastic content that will add so much more value to the product for the buyer.  Our blueprint, plus blueprints from 7 other article marketers, some of which earn high six figure incomes.

And here’s another benefit.  Many of the interviewees are in the IM niche and they have a list.  Do you think they will want to promote a quality product that they have had an input into and that other marketing experts are involved with?

I will let you decide…

So the point of this post is to get you to step out of your comfort zone.  That could be approaching other marketers to interview,  learning and creating your first videos, building your first affiliate sites or starting to build a list.  The point is you need to start pushing yourself to achieve your goals because if you don’t, who will?

To your success.

Your comments are welcome.

I couldn’t agree more about stepping outside the comfort zone. I did exactly the same as you and approached a number of marketers in the article marketing arena and interviewed them and all but one said yes, and the oonly reason he declined was that his schedule was too busy. Gratz to you on doing the same and here’s to many more of those moments and the profit they bring in the year 2009.

Hi Sylvia - Most of the marketers we approached were extremely willing to participate. It helped that we had a relationship with them but this is not a pre-requisite.

To your success.

Hi JJ

Just wishing you a very Happy New Year and hoping your aspirations will be fullfilled.

Stephen

Hi JJ,

Sounds like you guys are doing really well over here. All the best for 2009, and that 5 figure a month income.

Cheers,

Carl.

Hi JJ and Jason,

Is that Triple J? Like Triple H, the WWE wrestler?

Guys, well done!

Last time I looked Sean Mize had something like 20,000 articles at Ezine Articles.

I have noticed a new format at EA. They have recently included a paid option to get articles included quicker and on prime pages. Actually, this looks like the same thing they used to have for free.

But if you don’t pay now they are painfully slow putting articles through and they must be doing something to deflect them from view coz I have never had such poor read-throughs since this new “system” started.

I think EA are trying to send a message - pay up or you just get buried in the quagmire of dross.

Like your site, particularly as you set out your journey. You are following me on Twitter (gaeltarra). Please add me to your blogroll, you already have a lot of my student colleagues from Alex Jeffreys coaching programme. Visit my site and let me have your views of design/ layout etc. I am a newbie so all criticism is justified if it improves my education.
Happy New Year Jo

Stephen & Carl - Same to you my friends

Gaz man - The only wrestling I do is on the PS3 with my son :)

It’s true - the past few months have seen a serious increase in approval times at EA. You therefore need to plan the frequency of your submissions.

We are paid members, so our articles are approved very quickly. We will review the process in the coming weeks to see if the paid service is value for money.

Jo - Hi Jo, nice of you to drop by. We are currently reviewing our blogroll and how we use it. I will pop over to your site and give you my thoughts.

To everyones success
JJ

Hi JJ & Jason,
You guys are an inspiration! This is my first visit to your home and I’ll be making frequent stops on my rounds.

I purchased Chris’ material a month or so before joining Alex’s coaching course, but have just gotten started with it.

It’s the silliest things that I was stuck on. I didn’t understand how to use their templates for the review sites. I started one in Frontpage, but after AJ’s course started I had to learn http://ftp. Well, now it seems simple and I’ll get my review site up and running.

I’d like to let you know about one of our fellow AJ classmates. Her name is Susan Livingstone and she is a writer. She expressed interest in being hired for writing articles in case anyone is interested.

All the best,
Theresa

Hi JJ & Jason,

Great post and great info on article marketing, I’ve been following this subject for years and it’s been around for a long time.

I’m a fellow student and would like to be added to your blog roll if you don’t mind and I’ll be happy to add you to mine as well if you can stop by my blog and leave a comment. I’m having some technical difficulties right now, getting my sidebar stuff to show where it’s supposed to be but I’m making a separate page for the blog roll.

Have a great weekend,
Kevin

Hey JJ and Jason!

Wow, you guys are on top of things! Just looking at your blog, and all the things you are doing makes me KNOW I need to step out of my comfort zone a lot more! :-)

One thing I do need to do is start writing enzine articles like you were talking about. I haven’t really ventured into that before. You guys have motivated me to do it!

I know you will reach your goals for 2009! You have set your site on them, and I know you won’t be denied.

See you in the webinars!

Beth
