How To Write Article Titles That Get Clicks

By admin · Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Your goal is for someone to click on your title and read your article and then send them to you moneypage, site, blog or squeezepage or any other destination you desire.

For this to happen you MUST make your title RELEVANT and APPEALING.

To help with this we have created a simple formula:

Target Keyword + Outcome + Curiosity = More Click Thrus

Lets say you are targeting the keyword ‘remove Toe Fungus’ . By itself, thats not a bad title and it is very targeted and will get some good click thrus, but it could do with a bit of wow factor. We know because we have used similar titles with great results.

But lets see what happens if we add an outcome to the title. What do we mean by outcome? An outcome is what the reader will learn AFTER they read your article.  So if I was writing an article about removing toe fungus in 5 steps with natural ingredients, my title would be:

Remove Toe Fungus in 5 Simple Steps.

It has the target keyword AND the outcome.  They will learn how to address their problem in 5 simple steps. If I were looking for information on removing toe fungus, I would sure be interested in doing so in 5 simple steps.

Lets take this one step further by adding a bit of curiosity…

Lets say your article included a method of reducing toe fungus with a secret herbal recipe.  I would use something like..

Remove Toe Fungus Quickly With This Secret Herbal Recipe

The title has the target keyword, the outcome (quickly) and the curiosity factor (secret herbal recipe).

Obviously your target keyword and article content will dictate to some extent what you can add to your title. Therefore you won’t be able to add all three, all of the time.  But when you can, give it a go.  I think you will be surprised at the results…
